Build

Imagine Pools completes its full range of services by offering project construction.

All projects are directly supervised by either Joe Schmidt or Peter Stern, and all are reviewed by a structural engineer.

With a background in residential construction and design, our team ensures all projects are professionally constructed and built with the best materials and construction methods.

Imagine Pools prides itself as a great value to the discriminating client, never having a structural failure on any pool ever constructed, never completing a project over budget, and never having a bankruptcy or a valid lien placed on a client’s home.

Construction Process

  1. Design Consultation

During our first visit, various options will be covered including yard/pool space planning, drainage, equipment location, landscaping issues and other structures. We present our IMAGINE CUSTOM POOLS, water features, spa, tile, coping, decking and any special design and safety elements. Together we will develop a budget for the project. We will review your property survey, verify measurements, locate utility connections on the exterior of the home and schedule a follow-up meeting to present the first design for your review. After you review the design and direct us to make changes we will make the appropriate changes and ask for your verbal commitment to build an IMAGINE POOL

  2. Choose IMAGINE CUSTOM POOLS

Once the final design and your total investment is agreed upon it's time to sign on the dotted line.

  3. Permit Processing

Upon receipt of your signed contract, a cash deposit and the passing of the rescission period, we create our construction folder and enter all your information in our database. We create the engineered construction plans which are reviewed and approved by you at layout of your pool. We will provide you with a detailed Construction Information Brochure to enable you to follow along with us as we build your pool. We will assist you in the application process for Homeowner Association approval by making copies of the plan and related documents for you to deliver to them. The HOA will notify you the Homeowner of approval. We apply for a building permit from the applicable city or county.

  4. Site Preparation

Prior to layout, work may be needed to the pool site before construction.

    • Tree and stump removal from access or the actual area of pool construction
    • Plants removed or moved from access
  5. Layout

Your pool layout will be positioned according to your engineered plan, HOA or city ordinances, restrictions and setbacks from water's edge to property line. Note: We will meet with you for a Final Review at layout. You are given copies of the engineered construction plans and several additional clean legible copies are kept on site for trade contractors who need copies.

  6. Excavation

Once excavation has begun it will be completed swiftly and accurately by our excavation trade contractor. To excavate the correct depth, the top of the beam must be set and leveled. Excavators use leveling devices and staked forms to set elevation of the beam. We then inspect the excavation to confirm the excavation is completed per the plan.

  7. Plumbing

We deliver your equipment including pumps, filter, heater and control system at the time of the interior being installed. IMAGINE POOLS will supervise plumbing your pool. Schedule forty two inch PVC plumbing is custom fitted and glued to create all suction, return lines, system heads and various water functions of your pool. All plumbing and equipment is stubbed out, capped and pressurized with water. This continuous hydrostatic test insures the plumbing and connections to equipment will not leak.

  8. Steel

The steel contractor fabricates a rebar network to create the structural skeleton of your swimming pool. The highest standards of structural engineering are applied to your pool, around pools perimeter and special engineering for waterfall pads. A grounding grid wire will be installed and tied to the steel to prevent the unlikely event of stray low range current.

  9. Gunite

The shell of the pool is made of a super strong form of concrete known as gunite. Specially formulated concrete dry mix through a hose and blowing it out of the nozzle with high-pressure air and mixing it with water at the nozzle. This method creates a highly compacted workable structure enabling the crews to complete the intricate detail as designed. The walls and floor of your pool are six inches thick. The bottom corners of your pool are known as coves and are eight inches thick.

  10. Electrical

We release our trade contractor to complete the electrical phase. Pump(s) are wired to the control system or time clock(s). If purchased the heater and other related equipment for a spa is wired. We may need access into the home to install you indoor control. IMAGINE POOLS will confirm the electric is completed per the plan

  11. Clean-up

We release crews to perform a final clean-up of the construction area. They will pump out any dirty water while cleaning and removing any excess materials from the gunite shell. The entire pool construction area of the yard will be cleaned of debris and concrete over pours.

  12. Tile & Coping/Rock Work/Flagstone/Boulder Creations

We release our trade contractor for tile and coping to add an important design feature to your pool. Crews will level and set waterline tile with the appropriate adhesive. The coping stones are mortared on to the bond beam and the tile is grouted. If you chose one of our beautiful waterfall options, FLORIDA FALLS or other water features will be supervised by an IMAGINE POOL manager.

  13. Deck

We release the deck contractor to set forms according to your design, run area drains and set reinforcing steel. This is your opportunity to add decking. Upon your approval we release the deck contractor to pour the concrete deck OR Paver deck. Flagstone decking can be installed. After a few days, Sun deck (COOL DECK) topping is applied. This process is much like painting and the surface must be dry and remain dry for at least 8 hours following the application if you decide on a concrete cool deck.

  14. Final Clean-up

The purpose of this inspection is to insure that the pool is ready for the final stage of the interior finish. If available we will perform a walk through of the pool with you. If there are any areas of concern over workmanship or materials, please bring them to our attention at this time. We will create a "punch list" and write work orders to the various trade contractors giving them a few days to complete the work.

  15. Pre-interior finish walk through

  16. Interior Finish

We release the crews to perform the installation of the interior finish. Main drain covers are installed, return nozzles are installed, and the pool is wet and readied. Your pool is now ready for interior finish. They begin mixing the interior finish in a pumping machine located on the truck. The material is hand troweled to a smooth finish. Some finishes such as Pebble Teck take two days to complete.

  17. Start-up/Pool School

You will be given written and verbal instructions regarding: the operation of your new pool, orientation to pool chemistry and routine maintenance. You will be given all the tools and starter supply of chemicals to maintain the pool. The mechanical time clock inside your pool electric panel or your microprocessor system will be set for daily operation. We will further orient you to the operation and programming of your microprocessor control system. We will present you with all warranty paperwork, lien releases from all trade contractors and contact information for Customer Service.
